Ghislaine Petit-Volta
A harpist at the crossroads of worlds
Born in the heart of a rigorous musical heritage, Ghislaine Petit-Volta studied with the greatest master of the harp, Pierre Jamet, and one of the harpists most involved in contemporary music; Brigitte Sylvestre before entering the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris.

My story
Explore endlessly, always connect
She has drawn a singular trajectory where tradition is never fixed, but always in dialogue with the audacity of the present. Alongside conductors such as Pierre Boulez or Simon Rattle, she explored the great works of the classical repertoire, while becoming a key figure in contemporary creation.
But for Ghislaine, the harp is not only an instrument. It is a voice, a golden thread stretched between centuries, cultures and sensitivities. A way to invite the listener to feel, understand, and be moved.
Over the decades, her career has become that of a Sound explorer, ranging from Baroque to the most avant-garde music, through the rediscovery of forgotten works and the creation of interdisciplinary experiences — with voice, dance, technology, music theater.
Each project is a journey : from medieval to electroacoustic, from intimate to spectacular. Through his recordings, his concerts, its Telefilm for ARTE or her unclassifiable projects, she is constantly redefining what the harp can say to the world.
One artist, one mission
Through everything she creates, plays, or teaches, Ghislaine Petit-Volta seeks to awaken. Encourage the beauty of detail. Through the force of the unexpected. To the power of emotions. She believes that music can transform people's eyes, break boundaries, and open hearts.
Today, she continues her work with the same conviction: Music is a universal language, capable of connecting beings, times, worlds.
Transmit with humanity
A passionate teacher and visionary pedagogue, Ghislaine transmits much more than a technique: she shares a vision. Founder of the international Coillegium21 competition and co-director artistic with Laurence Bancaud, she accompanies a new generation of performers towards music that is open, free, connected to its time.
Collegium 21, she accompanies a new generation of performers towards music that is open, free, connected to its time.
Whether in her masterclasses or her collaborations with young artists, she embodies a figure of warm mentor, demanding but deeply human. Her educational approach weaves bridges between rigor and imagination, tradition and modernity.
Exceptional collaborations
She has collaborated with some of the most influential artists on the contemporary music scene.
